Incorporating the Reiki Precepts into Your Everyday Life
First blog post of the new year thanks to our Reiki Master Carly! Wonderful words and thoughts, consider this in the new year.
Just for today…
The New Year encourages us to reflect on the past year and the experiences that brought us joy, the lessons we have learned, and the challenges that we have overcome. The practice of reflection helps us see where we want to devote our energy in the New Year. It prompts the question, where can we grow? How can we contribute to our communities, and in our relationships?
As I reflected on the 2016 and pondered the above questions, I decided that one of my intentions in 2017 is to be conscious of the energy I bring to myself and others. It seems that our lives continue to get busier and busier and this inhibits our ability to be genuinely present to ourselves and others.
Several years after developing Reiki, Mikao Usui decided to incorporate the Reiki precepts into the practice of Reiki. The precepts were intended to extend the practice of Reiki into all parts of life. The precepts remind us that Reiki is not simply a treatment you provide or receive, it is a way you live. The precepts encourage us to take an active role and responsibility in our personal development and healing.
Just for today, do not worry.
Just for today, do not anger.
Honor your parents, teachers and elders.
Earn your living honestly.
Show your gratitude to every living thing.
Consider how you can carry the precepts with you into the New Year.
